Today at Target, I witnessed some of the worst parenting I had ever seen.

It started off with me in the stationary section and this women and her daughter (about 3 years old I am guessing) around the food area. Her daughter kept screaming and crying and the lady was yelling at her. Saying “you’re done! get in the cart! You’re being a little brat!” I could hear this kid crying through the whole store. I go to the check out line, it’s about 3 or 4 check outs away from the dollar section. She goes over there with her daughter and her daughter is saying “Ball, ball” and her mom (talking very loudly the whole time) says “Now why should I buy you a ball?? You’re being bad!”. So then she gets in line behind me…and says “Why is it that every time I come shopping for myself I always end up buying you stuff instead of myself?? Huh?? Tell me how that works!” Saying this all bitchy like to her 3 year old.

She then is floating around to other check out lanes looking at stuff and leaving her daughter sit there by herself. She comes back and sees a little puzzle and picks it up and goes “Should I buy you this?” and the little girl goes Yeah! in a little cute happy voice and her mom says “Nope! Cause you’re being mean!” and puts it back. Then goes back over to the dollar section looking at stuff and leaves her there again. Her daughter keeps going MOM! MOM! MOM! and she’s yelling from the dollar section WHAT!?, finally comes back and starts putting stuff down and all this stuff is mostly for her daughter. Clothes, toys whatever.

Now….I am by no means a parent…but I have grown up pretty much raising my brother and sisters…I know how taking care of kids works. You do not treat a child like that. If your child is being bad…you don’t treat them with toys and candy and whatever else and you sure as hell don’t act like you are going to get them something and then take it away when they think they are going to get it.

I just cannot believe some people who act like that and treat their kids that way are allowed to be parents. While there are people out there who can’t have babies who actually deserve one and would treat them 100 million times better. It breaks my heart to see this.

Another ramble but yeah….
